Anti-Virus programs and Firewalls are notorious for slowing down computers. This is especially true of Norton and others. Is it slow on start-up or in general? Check to see what is running at start-up by installing the free version of WinPatrol. Cleaning up your computer on a daily basis is also a very good idea. I use CCleaner, also free. Don't forget to defrag your system once a week as well. You can use Windows defrag or another free program AusLogics Disc Defrag. I run XP on my computer so if you're running Vista, check to see if these programs are compatible. Good luck!

Is your Laptop slow when connect to the inter net or is it always slow ...if its slow ehn connected to the network there could be an issue with your internet connection dissconnect from the network and check for the performance from the Task manager...if its always slow try deleting the temp internet files(Start---run---%temp% and delete all the files)if this does not resolve the issue do a disk defrag(Start---programs---accessories---... defrag)if this does not resolve the issue increase the paging file size (Right click on my computer---properties---Advanced---incer... the paging file size to the max of your ramEg:512 m if you have a 512 MB ram on the laptop)...If this does not resolve the issue click on the the link below and follwot he step by step wizard tjis shuld help you
