Is there a Freeware program that you can use to scan downloads for viruses?

Is there any program that you can use to scan downloads from viruses. (Downloads from anywhere, e-mail, P2P networks, etc.) Preferibly, i would like a free program where you can simply right-click on the download link and have it scan for a virus. Does such thing exist without having to pay a penny?
