Whats a good price to pay, if you computer has frozen due to spyware and viruses?

If your computer has frozen or becomes very slow and then freezez alot, what is fair price to pay a copmputer tech, to fix it? Usually means they will have to remove viruses and spyware and adware and install some type of protection on your computer.

Would that price be at my house or at there shop?

If I do the repair at your house, you would be paying me hourly for the whole time that it takes. This can be many hours. You see, it is hard to say, because there are many different types of viruses. If we said just $45 per hour, then we're talking $200+. The repair technician can't do anything else, while these scans are RUN, so they just wait.

It is best and cheaper to bring your computer to a shop and here's why.

1. Hard drive can be removed and cleaned from a CLEAN computer. That computer might have a different or more advanced anti-spyware and anti-virus solution. Since the virus would be inactive; it would be deleted. But then, other hard drive maintenance can be performed:

- run Disk Cleanup - from the System Tools section of Accessories

- Open My Computer, then Right Click on your C drive and pick PROPERTIES. Pick the Tools section and click on CHECK NOW. Check both tests, and YES, let it run after you restart. You see, CHECK DISK will ensure that your hard drive is working completely. This test might take an hour or so.
